Responses from Last Month

Moving Forward

I was horrified that only 100 of us pledged [in June] to send in the last $1000 so this is to the 8000 Squirrels who say they want USCWM to float. As Chief Squirrel at my house (I'm a widow), 1 figured God doesn't think! need anything til I've used what I have squirreled away. Then I am sure he will do his part to give me what I have need of. I also like It Cor. 9:8. (1 also believe it.)

Enclosed: my pledge from last month.

My wife and I are very excited about this idea of the "Last $1000." We worked at the Center for 3 months, with the MMAP program... This experience has had a big influence in our lives. We are enclosing our check, and encouraging friends to consider joining with us.

The May edition of Mission Frontiers, which I received in late June, contained details of the "Last Thousand Dollars" Plan, which is quite similar to what I would have suggested, but far more creative than what! would have been able to conceive. As apparently do many of your supporters, I believe it is time to put the indebtedness behind you, burn the mortgage, and get on with the true work of your organization, rather than being bogged down with the quarterly scramble for funds. Accordingly, I will be an enthusiastic supporter of your campaign.

Thank you for your commitment to this ministry. For some time the Lord has been gently nudging at me in the area of my commitment, especially with regards to giving. After reading the "open letter" in the last MF, the Lord seemed to confirm that He wanted us to be involved in the "Last Thousand Dollar" campaign as well. It's a step of faith and a step of obedience... Starting from July and giving to November we will be giving $200/month to reach

$1000... It's exciting... As we matte the decision, God began to provide and has already more than made up the difference for July. Praise Him!

God sent exactly $1000 my way unexpectedly. So, I'm delighted to send it as one of the "Last $1000" for the Center. My prayers accompany it.

God has laid on our hearts to use $1000 of our savings to invest through you for eternity. May God greatly glorify Himself and the Great Commission be accelerated in its completion because of your work.

We concur that God has and is directing the procurement of the Pasadena facility for His final (?)

r"t to reach His world. Although we are in full¬

'm tim, work with InterVarsity and live on faith pledges of others, God has never left or forsaken us financially (or otherwise). We believe He will not do so now either. We've decided to take this amount at the beginning of the month (the only time we ever have so much!) and trust God for His care. Actually there seems no risk we have seen this repeatedly in our personal lives and know the history of USCWM is our story (1115 story) writ large. We affirm your ministry, emulate your commitment, and share your love of Him, and His people, especially those who don't know their loving and precious Father yet.

I think this plan is the most likely to succeed. It has a strong appeal. So much so that when I recommended to our Missions Committee that we send $4,000, they increased it to $8,000 and the Session approved without a dissenting vote.

We pray that the response will enable you to pay off the campus and get on with the mission. I think God has put you through the fiery trials long enough.
