The Prayer Siege Continues! Praying Though The Window III Zeroing in on the peoples of the 10/40 Win

October 1993 Praying Through The Window I The 10/40 Window Countries

20 million intercessors from 105 nations joined in prayer for the 62 countries of the 10/40 Window. Teams from 32 countries prayed on site within the Window.

October 1995 Praying Through The Window II The Gateway Cities

Over 36 million believers were moved to intercede for 100 “Gateway” cities of the 10/40 Window. Approximately 150,000 churches and ministries joined in the prayer effort. A reported 607 prayer teams traveled to the cities of the 10/40 Window.

NOW

October 1997 Praying Through The Window III The Unreached Peoples

This year millions of intercessors worldwide will unite to pray for the unreached people groups living within the 10/40 Window. Each day, about four “people group clusters” will be targeted. Within each of these clusters are many more ethno-linguistic peoples.

Actually, many prayer warriors began this monthly cycle in October of 1996, and have been praying through the calendar each month since that time. It is anticipated that October of 1997 will be the biggest 10/40 Window prayer siege yet.

Jesus said, “When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe. But when someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the armor...and divides up the spoils.” (Luke 11:21-22)

That is why Praying Through The Window III is so important. Without prayer, no amount of mission effort will change the situation in the 10/40 Window. However, with prayer, the armor of resistance, hostility and ignorance can be removed, and the transforming power of the gospel can make contact.

Seeing the Window Clearly

The 10/40 Window is:

ÜA region from 10 to 40 degrees north of the equator and spans from North Africa to East Asia. ÜWhere all major religious blocs, including Christianity, began.

The 10/40 Window contains:

Ü 65% of the world’s population (3.8 billion) Ü 97% of the least evangelized countries on the earth Ü 80% of the world’s poorest people Ü 9 of the top-ten worst countries in terms of persecution Ü Only 20% of all mission work

Some people think that sytiang up all night makes for more effective prayers based on this scripture:Psalm 119:148 My eyes stay open through the watches of the night, that I may meditate on your promises. However be wary of doctrines based on psalms which is after all poetry.  People like David were soldiers and had to keep watch during the night during their “shift” so it is reasonable for him to pray during these times.  He also meditated on God’s word if he was lying awake on his bed:Psalm 63:6 On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. If you are being kept awake at night due to worry or anxiety prayer will help with that and help you get to sleep. This is not however justification for the sort of “all night prayer meetings” some churches organise. As for prayer very early in the morning this is taken from this scripture:Mark 1:35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Taking this scripture at face value some people teach that early morning prayers are somehow more effective which is why Jesus chose this time for prayer. Again, this is missing the whole point of the scripture.  Jesus led a very busy lifestyle due to his extra-ordinary righteousness and constant giving to other people so he had to force himself to wake up very early in the morning as it was the only chance he got to be alone with God, even then it wasn’t long before his disciples got up, noticed him gone and went looking for him. These are the scriptures which talk about how to have really effective and powerful prayers. The first and most important thing is to be in your right mind, not to have a mind clouded by exhaustion or any other form of mind numbing effects (drugs alocohol etc).1 Peter 4:7 The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray. The next most important thing is to live as righteous a life as possible:James 5:16-18   16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.  17 Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.  18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. Lastly, you need to believe that your prayers have been answered as doubts reduce the effectiveness of your prayers:James 1:5-7   5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.  6 But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.  7 That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; There are other scriptures on prayer but I hope this is enough to get you started.Hope this answer was helpful.References :
