My Turn - Pioneers Blazing New Paths to the Unreached

As I see it, the answer to total world evangelization--reaching all peoples-- is not to just send out more missionaries, but to send them out to the right places, the neediest of places, the places where there is no church and no witness.

Pioneers is a young mission which in many ways was born against the tide. The vision from the beginning was to go where few others, if any, were going, among unreached peoples of the five major blocks-- Muslim, Tribal, Hindu, Chinese, and Buddhist.

Often, as I sit in my office, I can hear the cry of millions from different corners of the globe, countries where I have visited our workers, "Sirs, we want to see Jesus." I see the tremendous possibility of multitudes being brought into the Kingdom of God in our lifetime if we can only prayerfully and systematically penetrate the barriers of unreached people groups-- gain access to "closed" countries (which is happening!), learn their languages and cultures, build meaningful relationships; and evangelize, baptize, teach and plant cell groups of believers leading to the establishment of churches.

Never before in the history of the Church has there been a greater drive and thrust for mission work among "unreached peoples" than what we have seen in the latter part of this century. We have planners, strategists, experts, and mobilizers, still we are only scratching the surface of what needs to be done in many unreached areas.

There is a growing tendency to philosophize missions. We have seen in our generation some of the biggest mission conferences ever held . . . and the world remains much the same. We go from one seminar to another, and many of us love to just sit and "talk" about missions.

But, still there is the crying need from the unreached world for a new generation of missionary "Pioneers" -- men and women of action, frontline go-getters, committed soldiers of the Cross who will initiate something great for God and write a new chapter of Church history for those who have no churches.

Pioneers is looking for men and women who will go the distance, even at great sacrifice, to complete their mission. We need team leaders to launch new church-planting efforts in difficult unreached areas, and equippers and facilitators to join existing pioneering teams.

Pioneers is willing to work with any unreached people group of the five major blocks of unreached peoples no matter how difficult or dangerous the task might appear.

By all means, and using all means, we aim to win some from every people group we serve. Pioneers will not consider its mission complete until the last churchless people groups has been reached. As multitudes who have never heard continue to pass into a lost eternity-- now is the time to pray . . . now is the time to act . . . now is the time to pioneer.
