This is an article from the July 1982 issue: We Want to Rejoice!

From the Director

From the Director

It is my solemn responsibility to face the facts. Then  you deserve to know the facts. You have undoubtedly given and prayed for this project.

Not again? Foreclosure in a few days?

That's what it looks like  despite the lavish generosity of many last December.

These are tough times for everyone, of course, (and there are 20 foreclosures a day in Southern California.)

Honestly, though, have you ever wondered "Maybe this is one project that won't fly?"

Due to:

  • Incredible hard work beyond hours
  • dozens of unpaid volunteers
  • everyone on the very same missionary salary - director along with the rest
  • using nothing but second hand furniture
  • on and on

We have always, from day one, been self-supporting as far as operational costs are concerned. That's why we are not scrambling to build a donor base. That's why we want to get this property paid off.

Right now, June 28, Hard Facts:

  1. We have paid $4,161,000, with God's help, and yours.
  2. That includes $25,000 toward the June 1st payment of $175,000.
  3. That means we are in arrears $150,000.
  4. We can expect a "Notice of Default" on July 1st or shortly after.
  5. That will initiate a 90 day foreclosure period.

We stalled this issue three weeks, hoping to tell you something more definite about the foreclosure possibility (by now more certain). Our Heavenly Father knows why the skies have seemed so silent.

Next issue will arrive in less than a month, we hope. We expect to give you the most complete financial report yet.

Please don't miss the wonderful list of God's blessings... turn page.

And the many other good things of permanent value in this issue.
