winter.JPG (5355 bytes)Dear friend,

At this precise moment it is 8 AM. Today this will be printed and now I would like to know how soon you get it. / am going to send a special gift to the three persons who write me and tell me the shortest time it took for this to get to you, and I'11 mention the results next time.

This is an important kind of question. Things are happening so quickly that "turn around" time all of a sudden becomes very crucial.

It used to be that typesetting was a 4 to 6 week process. Now, with the amazing new laser-printer-computer combination, we have for over two years been reducing the typesetting gap to a single hour, as in this case this morning.

That is, I am typing this on a simple Macintosh computer. It will come out of the LaserWriter Plus 10 seconds after I finish what I am saying here, and it will be in final form for the printer. It will go out of the building to the printer within 30 minutes. The printer will print 70,000 copies later today or at the latest tomorrow, and on Wednesday these will go into the mail. That will be August 12. You see how soon you get your copy. And tell me. Maybe you'll be one of the first three!

We began with this process with our January issue in 1985, and every issue since then. The Global Prayer Digest is done by the same process. My wife's book was entirely done the same way. Over 25 different periodicals go out of here every month, and we save thousands of dollars on typesetting costs every month.

But the most important thing we save is time. God's timing is speeding up and we need the speed-up of this process just to keep up with all the wonderful things he is doing. We hope this will be a blessing to you. The clean, crisp versatility of this method is startling. We have given out the details to many organizations. If your people have not yet discovered them, perhaps we could save you some time. Just write or phone Bruce Graham or Todd Johnson, on our staff here. It's that simple.

However, don't forget where God in His Time is leading us. That is the upshot of every article in this bulletin!

Yours most cordially,

Ralph D. Winter, General Director
