This is an article from the January-February 1996 issue: The USCWM is Charting a New Course

Mission Services Division

Serving Others Who Serve

Mission Services Division

God has blessed the U.S. Center with more than 250 people in 50+ agencies (see page two for a partial listing. To support that ministry is a 35+ acre campus, with 12 major campus buildings and more than 100 housing units. You can see some of the many different departments described in this magazine.

Supporting all of these various ministries is the Mission Services Division. This division is made up of accountants and computer whizzes, property managers and teachers, maintenance workers and graphic artists, chefs and telephone specialists, administrators and security personnel, and the list goes on and on.

Sometimes these services are deemed less important than the more public ones. But without them the "job" wouldn't get done. There are many parts of the body, all of which are unique and required for the body to be healthy. Here are some brief descriptions of some of these departments that keep us all supported and moving forward in ministry.

Financial Services Department has it's hands full with all of the reporting and management needed for an organization as diverse within the vision as is here.

Off-Campus Housing manages more that 100 houses which many missionaries from the USCWM and collaborating agencies call home.

Facilities/Building Department manages our office buildings which houses over 50 agencies and organizations. These facilities are also used by many organizations all over the world for conferences, banquets and special events.

Aylward House is our on-campus housing facility and is home to missionaries and students from many cultures. It has been filled this year with hundreds of missionaries from Korea and the U.S. who are participating in English teacher training in preparation for overseas service.

Our Research and Development Department is a critical asset in supporting our computer hardware and software needs, as well as enabling us to communicate with people all over the world by e-mail and the Internet.

William Carey Academy is our own elementary school which serves our missionary families. It is a blessing to the parents serving here to have their kids being taught in a Christ focused school with a global mission perspective.

And the list goes on...the Graphics Department serves this magazine, the Global Prayer Digest and helps produce brochures, flyers, mailings and much more for many departments. Telecommunications serves by providing hundreds of phone and computer network lines. Our own Pierce Cafeteria serves meals to hundreds of people every day and caters special events. Information Services keeps the mailing databases for Mission Frontiers (more than 120,000-which means hundreds of changes each month) and the Global Prayer Digest monthly prayer guide with single and bulk orders. Many other departments including Mail Room and Security are all critical to the day-to-day functions of this organization.

Please pray for this division, it's people and it's purposes. And for all of you who have felt the call to missions, or to full-time Christian service, but do not feel that they had skills or freedom to leave this country--we would love to talk with you! Listed below are just a few of the current personnel needs in this division:
