At the Center

At the Center

Phil Renick, mission director for the Association of Christian Schools International, recently visited the Center to emphasize the drastic need for mission education curricula in Christian schools. Renick’s association of 2700 Christian schools—including more than a hundred overseas schools for missionary children—has been awarded a substantial grant to develop the first comprehensive mission curriculum for kindergarten through eighth grade.

The past 18 months have been a time of great growth and change for Global Mapping International, with strong evidence of God's hand directing progress in unpredictable ways. A User's Group (GMUG) has been formed to provide information about GMI, the Global Bulletin Board and Mission Network, as an exchange of ideas between the more than 70 members from every continent. To help people with a serious interest in using computers in mission research, four-day Pre-User's Conferences give practical information on this and on participating in their Global Research Network. The next conference is Oct. 3-6 in Pasadena.

Global Mapping has a library of over 200 maps visualizing the task of world evangelization. For a catalog on these and other publications, or for information on GMUG or the Pre-User's Conference, contact Global Mapping at 818/ 398-2420.

To broaden the horizons of young people interested in missions, WCIU held a "Mission Career Day," Sept. 7. "Perspectives" course graduates and church youth groups were invited to a day on campus to hear about worldwide mission, global networking, tentmaking opportunities and mission career choices. Speakers included Dr. Ralph Winter, Vern Dueck, Lee Purgason and Greg Livingstone from USCWM.
