Adopt-A-People Clearinghouse Gets New Director

The Adopt-A-People Clearinghouse in Colorado Springs has announced that Keith Butler, former US Director for Frontiers, a mission agency focused on reaching muslims, has accepted the position of executive director for the Clearinghouse. The Adopt-A-People Clearinghouse which works to collect information on the unreached peoples and who is working to reach them, has been without an executive director since Kaleb Jansen was forced to step down last year because of ill health. Kaleb Jansen is now living in Norway and working on international Adopt-A-People efforts.

In a phone conversation Keith mentioned several exciting plans that the Clearinghouse has for the future. They plan on putting around 500 people profiles on Brigada, a missions-oriented email network, in just the next two months. They also plan on putting their entire list of people profiles on CD-ROM so the data can be sent to Christian colleges, universities, Bible Schools, researchers and mission agencies. They also plan on providing on-line access to these profiles. They will be working closely with the AD2000 and Beyond Movement which will be gathering data on the 2,500 unreached peoples that they are targeting.

AD2000 plans on sending research teams to these unreached peoples to gather information on them. This information will then be sent to Bethany World Prayer Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to be combined with information from the Adopt-A-People Clearinghouse in producing people profiles on these 2,000 unreached peoples.

At the Olympic Stadium during the last week of July, 10,000 children prayed for the needy children of the world. This was just one of many Korean AD 2000 Track follow-up activities flowing from GCOWE '95. "The Korean AD 2000 movement will continue in close partnership with the AD 2000 international office to achieve evangelization of the peoples in the 10/40 Window." This comment was made in an official publication describing the follow-up activities of the Korean church with the AD 2000 & Beyond Movement.

International Board members of the AD 2000 & Beyond Movement, Dr. Mrs. Lee and Dr. David Kim discussed and reviewed the plans for launching a global five year initiative, emerging out of the GCOWE '95 process. With a bi-pronged focus on country-wide AD 2000 initiatives and a detailed plan to implement the vision of a church for every people and the gospel for every person by the year 2000 in the 10/40 window, "The Joshua Project," was formulated. It will be launched at the upcoming meeting of 200 core AD 2000 leaders to be held November 28 to December 2nd in Colorado Springs. "I am very excited about this vision," said Dr. Lee after review and discussion. She indicated that she is making plans to fly to Colorado Springs for "the launch," the name given to the gathering.
