AD2000 United Prayer Track Launches Praying through the Window II: “The 100 Gateway Cities”

In October 1993, the United Prayer Track of the AD2000 and Beyond Movement led over 20 million people worldwide to pray for the 62 countries located in that area of the world referred to as the "10/40 Window." This is the area of the world where most of the unreached peoples live. It spans the globe from the west coast of Africa to the east of Japan and from 10 degrees north of the equator to 40 degrees north of the equator.

While 20 million prayed for the peoples of this area, over 250 prayer teams went on prayer journeys right into the countries of the 10/40 Window to pray "on site with insight." This was all coordinated by the Christian Information Network of Colorado Springs. It was a part of the activities of United Prayer Track of the AD2000 Movement. The results are reported in a 200 page book, WindoWatch, published by the Christian Information Network.

The United Prayer Track is now launching Praying Through the Window II which is targeting the 100 Gateway (Significant) Cities of the 10/40 Window. They hope to have between 30 and 50 million people worldwide praying during October 1995 for the 100 cities that are most significant in the area of the 10/40 Window. People will pray for 3 cities each day according to a prayer calendar which gives the names and pronunciation of each city The prayer calendar is now available along with the book, Praying Through the 100 Gateway Cities which contains informative profiles on each of the 100 cities.

The chairman of Praying Through the Window II is Michael Little, President of the Christian Broadcasting Network in Virginia Beach VA. Speaking about the project's potential impact, Little stated, "We have the technological potential to fulfill the Great Commission, but we must have the prayer focus on the areas of most need. Praying Through the Window II will give us the geographic, population, and calendar focus to pray with specific effectiveness."

As a part of this effort, 10,000 intercessors will actually visit each of the 100 cities in teams of 100. The Christian Information Network is now asking that all of the churches that sent teams in 1993 to prepare to send one again in 1995. At the same time they are inviting all those interested to contact their Colorado Springs office which is coordinating the development of these 100 intercessory prayer teams. Each prayer team will ordinarily go to one of the Gateway Cities for one week during October 1995. In many cases they will join with local prayer teams who live or work on site.

Beverly Pegues, Director of the Christian Information Network says, "For many churches this will be the first substantial investment of mission funds in prayer. But if our usual rhetoric about the importance of prayer is biblically valid, it may be time to launch out and do it. As one pastor has said, 'We're finally ready to put our money where our mouth has been!' We hope that those interested will not delay in signing up for one of the prayer journeys since several months will be needed to make adequate preparation for the prayer journey."
