Welcome to the November-December 1997 issue of Mission Frontiers, the bulletin of the U.S. Center for World Mission. In this issue we feature the JESUS film, which has been seen by more people in their own language than any other film in history. Over one billion people have now seen the JESUS film. MF had an exclusive interveiw with Paul Eshleman, director of the JESUS Film Project. Also, in this issue we printed a supplement to the subject of De-Westernization which we covered in depth in the September-October 1996 issue. Finally, we've included some classic MF articles--like Donald McGavran on "A Church in every People"-- that you don't want to miss.

We hope that you enjoy these articles. Please feel free to write and let us know your response to these articles.

Editorial Comment
-Ralph D. Winter

Dr. Winter's thoughts on Promise Keepers AND an introduction to the The "Six Spheres of Mission Overseas"

The JESUS Film Project Targets the World
Within the next 39 months, distributors of the film "JESUS" hope to see viewers far surpass those who saw the film during its first 16 years of use. If they succeed, well over 5 billion will have seen the film by the end of the millenia.

A Church in Every People: Plain Talk About a Difficult Subject
—Donald A. McGavran
Considered by Dr. Winter to be "the most remarkable 'letter' written by the most remarkable mission strategist of the Twentieth Century," McGavran proposes that the goal of Christian mission should be to preach the Gospel and plant a "cluster of churches" in every unchurched segment of mankind.

The Key to the Window is the “Ring” of Partnerships
—Mats Tunehag
If we want to see a church for every people, we must integrate Scripture translation, medical work, small business development, broadcasting, short term teams, relief and development, etc... This integrated partnership is the “ring” that is needed to open the doors of the unreached peoples.

Seeing the Reformation with New, Missionary Eyes.
Is that the Key to a Coming Mutation in Missions Today?

"TAKING A STAND FOR CHRIST"
Who does it benefit?
--Frank L. Roy
Today in India the norm is extraction out of the family and into the church. To see a viable church established in all unreached people groups, we need to see conversions taking place that benefit the new believer's community.

Must the Faith Get Out of Control?
The Word In The Mother Tongue and Life In The Mother Culture
--Harold Kurtz
On the one hand, Wycliffe Bible Translators has helpfully sensitized us to the God given right of all people to have the Word of God in their mother tongue. However, I believe it is time for us to think more seriously and more radically about another right which all people should have--the right to live and worship and express their love of and thanks to the God of Life as revealed by Jesus in their mother culture.
