People From All Walks Of Life Are Sending in $136.50 to Support MF.
Here are three examples.
In the Jan.-Feb. 1993 issue of Mission Frontiers Dr. Winter proposed a plan to finance the ever expanding ministry of Mission Frontiers around the world. In order to avoid the very expensive option of paying someone to manage our subscription list, send out renewal notices and process 90,000 $4 checks, Dr. Winter proposed that one thousand people send in a donation of $136.50 to cover the cost of sending MF to 70 other people for a year. Our current staff could handle 1,000 checks but not 90,000.
In his editorial in the May-June 1993 issue, the Managing Editor, Rick Wood also challenged the readers to support MF financially so that thousands of Christian leaders world-wide can continue to be blessed by MF. Here we present some of the first people to respond to the challenge of supporting the ministry of MF to the Christian leaders world-wide.
Harvey and Roberta Morey.
Seattle, Washington
Harvey and Roberta were the very first ones to respond to Dr. Winter's idea of giving $136.50 to send MF to 70 other people. Harvey owns his own business as a distributor for Power Punch oil products. He spends many hours a month on the road in his 16 ton truck serving his distributors on the West Coast. They are faithful members of West Side Presbyterian Church in Seattle, Washington. They have been very active on the missions committee for over ten years where Harvey is currently the chairman. Their church supports many mission organizations and currently sends out over ten missionaries including Rick and Lorena Wood. Rick is the Managing Editor for Mission Frontiers and his wife Lorena assists him in the office. Harvey said recently,"Strategically, Mission Frontiers is the most important ministry that we support."
Phyllis Firgins Suring,
Wisconsin
Phyllis has been a faithful supporter of the US Center for the last 11 years since she started receiving Mission Frontiers. She was a founder with $15, a donor in the last $1,000 campaign to pay off the campus and more recently she has volunteered with the Mission Frontiers Vision Network. She is one that is accustomed to giving herself in support of the spread of the Gospel.
She and her late husband, Harold, worked the land for many years as farmers in rural Wisconsin. Now from these rural roots she seeks to support missions vision in her local church, Maple Valley Community Church. She is the Sunday School Superintendent and actively supports the missions outreach of her church through the Christian and Missionary Alliance Great Commission Fund and also supports missionaries with agencies like Wycliffe. She loves Mission Frontiers and wants to see it continue to succeed. That's why she is supporting it with $136.50. She reads both it and the Global Prayer Digest. In her spare time she also volunteers at a local Christian radio station.
Curtis and Claire Nimori
Orange, California
Curtis and Claire have really caught the burden for the unreached peoples. Their whole view of missions changed when they took the Perspectives class. They had already been interested in missions and had spent time in Brazil on a short-term mission. But taking Perspectives really opened up a their eyes, giving them a new focus on missions and the unreached peoples. Now they are Perspectives coordinators with classes starting in their own church, Evergreen Baptist in Rosemead. Curt works as a computer programmer and Claire is the church secretary. They both are active on their church missions committee and Curt has volunteered some time here at the US Center. Through this process they have caught the vision of Mission Frontiers' potential. When they sent in their gift they wrote, "We greatly appreciate this magazine and want to help distribute it to key mission leaders.
