The Editorial of Ralph D. Winter Founder of the U.S. Center for World Mission
This is a very strange issue of Mission Frontiers! Never before have we made so bald a plea for help (man and woman power ö in Pasadena and our regional offices). We are overflowing with opportunities we cannot grasp. However, normally... Our bulletin comes to your home with a narrow and specific purpose: We want to serve you by keeping you informed of the overall picture of Godâs outreach to the ends of the earth. We are eager to tell you about anyone or any agency doing helpful things to further the frontier missions cause across this globe (take for example the four-page newsletter we have inserted this time from the Baptist General Conference.) We want to make sure that all of your abilities and gifts and resources are efficiently and effectively at the service of the Lord of the Harvest in these countdown years before the year 2000. Larry Walker who is the So. CA ACMC representative speaks of us (and his own work for ACMC) as "Generic Mission Promotion." Where else but in MF will you hear about the upcoming: "ROLL CALL OF THE NATIONS" Anglican Frontier Missions Yours Faithfully, Ralph D. Winter (On his way to Budapest, Dr. Winter asked me to finish up this column.) This "Strange Issue" of Mission Frontiers Mission agencies await your help to seize current opportunities among the unreached peoples of the tumultuous Soviet Union. With your help, we can better help them. Take some small step to discover whether God might want YOU to join us in His purpose! Companies are increasingly open to "volunteer service leaves." Co-op and internship programs now offer students academic credit for the practical work experience we provide in computers, graphics and other fields. And the increased vision, skills, contacts and maturity which you gain on our team will equip you for effective service in whatever years you have remaining. You may not be able to come to Pasadena now. But this issue will help you pray for us far more effectively. Do pray! Most importantly, pray through pages 4 and 5 about your thrilling opportunity to "Join the Kingdom" in a growing network of mission fellowships uniting local churches. This modest step to form 1000 local committees to cover the expense of our expanding Mission Frontiers ministry will promote the work of every other entity serving the cause of frontier missions. You can do in your local area what we never could from a central office in Pasadena. You can build relationships. You can share vision. You can link with us to promote The Cause! God is on the move! What will He do next? Perhaps it depends on what we do. What will you do? ö Robby Butler [ FRONT PAGE ] [ MEET OUR STAFF ] [ USCWM ] [ SEARCH ] |
